Scimitar by Rob Richardson....

Great model, Rob, and great repaints Dave and Henk!

The 1960 Vic is my boat of choice for Scimitar work, from what's present today - a Centaur would be nice, but that'd be more of an issue for Rob's upcoming Sea Hawk.

Excellent news about the Sea Hawk. I tried installing the FS9 one to take a pic for that "favourite jets" thread, but it wasn't a success.

As for Scimitars on Centaur, there was a rather nice scheme available for one of the old versions. I've got a pic somewhere of an 803 one with the tiger's head badge.

804Sqn had a Tigers head on the fin. Is that the one you mean Dave?? I'm sure either me or Henk will knock that one up in the not too distant:encouragement: I redecked a couple of carriers using Ocean as the base giving me Theseus and Triumph. I thought about repainting the deck to have her looking similar to Victorious58 but it would look odd without the 5deg deck angle. Nice to know a set of new girls is on the go;)

Thanks hschuit - another good one. And yes, DaveB, you're right of course. i think the brain missed a cog having just seen the 803 one above.

I like the PR nose Dave!

Drawn with my own fair hand!!:biggrin-new: Some plates show camera sections in the lower nose too but the actual shot I have of 156 doesn't have them. I don't think they'd have worked too well anyway. The 156 on the fuse was a royal pain to get close because it kept stretching up the fuse. Looked fine from the side but as soon as you pan up.. yuk. It does it a tiny, tiny bit now:dizzy: 156 seems to have had slightly larger numbers though god knows why!!

An alternative Rob is to make a new folder.. Model.clean.. drop the new mdl in there with the original VC.mdl and use the existing aircraft.cfg.. referencing any existing paint to model=clean:encouragement:

Here's another.. XD235/032 Airwork FRU 1966-68

The cfg entry for this points to Rob's clean model but if you want bangers on it.. just change the model= line. Sorry but the lamp in the nose doesn't work:biggrin-new:

One more.. Supermarine 544, WW134 as seen when doing deck trials with Ark Royal IV, 1957. WW134 was the 3rd Type 544 and carried the familiar wing fences and anhedral tailplane.

Config uses the 'clean' model;)

All the paints done thus far have been made using Rob's PK with modifications and tweaks along the way. I'm trying something a little more bold using an EDSGrey I've used a few times before. The blue is really coming out on the Scimitar and suddenly.. an already pretty aircraft looks prettier.. if this is possible. You can see the difference between the new EDSG fuse and the as yet unpainted areas.
