On the ramp in Honolulu. I've been working and flying this really cool airplane all day and time to shut things down. Tomorrow is another day. Lagaffe has given us a really wonderful airplane. He is going to resize the slightly too large ADF antenna on the wing and he did say he was going to make it an option to remove the radar just behind the cockpit. Then it would be a PBY-5A. Hopefully some of our talented painters can give this a cool navy 3 tone navy paint. This airplane's water ops are very well done too. It is fun to land and take off from the water. Thanks again Lagaffe for giving us this wonderful PBY.
I thought in a second do i see those well known prop tip vortices aft of the port propeller.....? A second later i realised it's just a nice illusion caused by the spinning prop texure.. hehe.. I *am* thinking might this be in the pipeline for a next bundle of MSAsobo special effects ??..... Would be cool and about time, huh....
Great to see you working on Lagaffe's PBY, Ed ! I was meaning to ask you to shoot a screenie of the water spray effect but DVJ already took a dive into it. Thanks DVJ !
I can't help thinking this is one of the best effects ever produced for FS. You'd almost start wondering what's keeping the landing burn rubber smoke...... ( engine smoke seems to get better with some aircraft models but not really there yet )
How is the Catalina VC, Ed. Any clickable switches, buttons, knobs, handles maybe ?..... ( i was quite dissapointed to see that the DC-4 VC has non whatsoever...) I went to fs.de to download the Cat but apparently it's under maintenance..

Jan go to the FS2020 Forum and the PBY thread #115 and click on the Dropbox link. Go to the far right upper corner and click download. I was going to ask you if you checked it out yet, but it appears you have not. I think you will really enjoy all the hard work Lagaffe has put into this project. I spent all day yesterday setting up this airplane and trying to learn how to operate it. I was reading a PBY-6A manual last night. Take off speeds are between approx 61 to 73 kts, depending on weight. Yes just about everything is clickable. I had to look up the magneto switches as they appeared odd to me, but they are correct. It's a very cool airplane and Lagaffe has really done a bang up job on it. He is already working on resizing the ADF antenna. I am looking forward to removing the radar dome, to have a standard PBY-5A and hopefully someone will do a few cool WW2 Navy paints for it. The tri-color is one that comes to mind. I hope you can download it today.

Hello Brian, I agree with your thoughts on FS2020. I have enough HDD space that I can keep both for the time being. I might need to use it, FS2020 for some reason, not sure why at the moment, but who knows. Our computer specs are almost identical. FS2024 runs very well on it. Here is a flight in the PBY. It's a beautiful airplane IMHO. It flys really well too. Now we have a B-24 and a PBY, all in about one months time. Good luck with your repaints. Does DDS vs KTX2 have any visual differences on the textures?

I haven't noticed any visual difference between the DDS and the KTX2 files. I read somewhere (I can't recall where) that the KTX2s offer a little better performance. I don't know if that's true, but I'm doing the conversions anyway just to keep things as compatible as possible. Plus, it's a good chance to make some updates and changes to things.
I haven't loaded up the PBY yet, BTW, but it looks great in your shots.
