As the Beta Prepar3D is DX11 only, I was wondering how Orbx scenery's will work with it, as Orbx still haven't fixed DX10 compatibility of their products? I know Orbx have been liaising with Lockheed Martin over V2.0, but you would think this could be a problem.

Good stuff is a-comin' and in 2013 no less!... GPU suppport.... SLI... less chance of OOM's... VC shadows.... improved FPS... just think of the visual improvements of the air, sea and land with DX11.

It sounds like I'll be investing in a new video card at the least. But then again, I blew by FSx way back there. LM, I got faith in your ventures. Make my simulation experience flourish!. Mod and tweak free :salute:
 
P3D V2 is in beta but is covered by an NDA. ORBX is part of that team and hopefully we will some things fixed. I am hoping DX11 will work with some of the earlier non native aircraft as I have several of those that I fly on a regular basis.

I was under the impression that LM was recruiting testers. This is why I posted the link to let others sign up if they wanted.
 
It's going to get expensive in the short term - New P3D, New TS2014, all this recent FTX activity and I need a new HD to hold it all. No snow tires this year then :icon_lol: :icon_eek:

Actually, from everything I've read, the TS2014 upgrade will be free to existing TS2013 users (just like the TS2013 upgrade was for TS2012 users).
 
A related question of sorts. My graphics card is a ATI HD5870. I "think" it is DX11 capable, but DX11 something I need to download/install? I am clueless about the workings of DX.....NC
 
Not being sure about DX11 and my new NVidia gt640 card, I went to the NVidia site and checked its specs. Yup. DX11 compatible.
 
Really looking forward to V2 . What I'm not particularly looking forward to is reloading the AC and scenery I've accumulated . I had a new PC rebuild last July and spent the better part of two weeks (off and on) reloading but this new P3D V2 will be a labor of love . :running: Hugh ORBX fan so this will be big leap forward in flightsimming . :applause:

Can't you just copy/paste your aircraft over to P3D_V2 (when it comes out)?

Also, I wonder if you can just use your scenery.cfg to migrate your scenery into V2 without having to import any scenery, since you can link your scenery into P3D/FSX from any location on your computer.

I could be wrong, but that's how I do it. I haven't tried the scenery.cfg route yet, but usually just locate my scenery and link it in the Scenery Library in P3D.

I also bring over the various sub folders of aircraft, the gauges, etc, so the planes usually work. That leaves you with just a couple to actually load up via installers.

Your right Bill . That should work well with the AC and the associated folders(gauges , effects etc)with the exception of a few that I would have to use the installers as you stated . I just wanted to weed out a few AC I have not touched in a long time and was starting from a clean install . Thanks for the suggestions . I don't see why swapping the Scenery folders and cfg wouldn't work unless LM has added or taken out some of the stock airports from 1.4 in 2.0. . I'm certainly going to give it a shot when V2 comes out after I look over both of the Scenery cfg's . IMO V2 will bring a lot of FSX'ers to P3D due to all the changes being incorporated . Let me state for all those that have FSX and have it running smooth without errors , go for it . It never ran smooth on my rig at the time and I was constantly getting errors . New PC build in July running P3D 1.4 . Very smooth and enjoyable without errors . Really looking forward to V2 .

Thanks again , (By the way , I've logged a lot hours in your excellent AC , especially the Fairchild 24R and the W . Really fun AC to fly .)
