• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Skin for Aeroplane Heaven's great Me109E, flown by Oberlieutnant Wilhelm Moritz, Staffelkaptain 6./JG77, Kristiansand-Kjevik, September 1940

The profile I used showed a hasty dopple applied to the fuselage and crude paining out of the original A/C identity code NI+ZW.

At the beginning of World War 2, Moritz was serving with II./ZG 1 flying the Bf 110 Zerstörer twin-engined fighter. He participated in the Polish campaign. In summer 1940, Moritz was transferred to II./JG 77. He was assigned to 6./JG 77. He served in Norway and western France with this unit with no victory claims. On 9 September, he was appointed Staffelkapitän of 6./JG 77. Starting in 1941 to the end of the war, Moritz served with EinsatzStaffel/JFS 4, 11./JG 51, 11./JG 1,II./JG 51, 12./JG 51 and 6./JG 3.

In over 500 combat missions Wilhelm Moritz was credited with 44 confirmed victories. He recorded 25 victories over the Western front, including 12 four-engined bombers. The rest of his victories were claimed on the Eastern Front. However, some sources quote his total to be as high as 54, including 25 four-engined bombers.
