• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Built during 1934 by the Societa Idrovolanti Alta Italia "Savoia?, the SM.74 had accommodation for twenty-four passengers in one large cabin. It had wooden wings and welded steel tube fuselage covered with aluminium and painted canvas. Fitted initially with four 700 h.p. Piaggio "Stella" X engines received, during 1937, the 780 h.p. Alfa Romeo AR.126 RC ones. Its loaded weight was 31.000 lbs and the cruising speed 190 m.p.h.. The SM.74 was the first four-engined Italian airliner. Only three planes were built (I-URBE, I-ROMA, I-ALPE), and they served from 1936 with Ala Littoria; distinguished by comfort and luxury, these planes were fast, safe and sturdy. The SM.74s were used on the Rome-Paris route until 1938 and on the Rome-Tripoli route until 1940. After June 1940 the Royal Italian Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) incorporated all the civil aircrafts. The three SM.74s of 604? Transports sqdn. (based in Libya) were used during military operations in North Africa and also for the evacuation of the civilians towards the Sicily; carrying more than 5,000 kg of material they revealed themselves as the best Italian (operative) cargos. Complete aircraft. 3 Different Hi-Res GMax models (3 different versions), features the usual moving parts, such as all flight controls, props pitch and navlights. Three different liveries (2 Ala Littoria + 1 Regia Aeronautica); 2D panel only (NO VC). Created by Manuele Villa , November 2007. Installation instructions included.
