Overview History Discussion
A development of the original Horsa which gave increased load carrying capacity and easier loading/unloading. This was brought about by hinging the fuselage just behind the cockpit and equipping the a/c with a double nose-wheel for extra load bearing.

The Mk. II entered service in late 1944 and saw action with British airborne in Operation Varsity in March 1945. (The Rhine crossing)

It remained in service until after the war seeing service in Palestine and trials in India.
