FS 2004 Flight Replicas Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 The second of my 'Defense of the Reich' series Oblt. Wilhelm Schilling, Staffelkapitan of 9./JG54, Ludwigsslust Feb. 1944. Schilling's impressive career started in May 1940 and steadily mounted victories with JG54 throughout the Russian campaign. After 46 kills he was seriously wounded and awarded the Knight's Cross in October of 42. He returned to JG54 in late 43 as Staffelkapitan of 9./JG54 in Germany with defense of the Reich duties. More victories and wounded several more times, he ended the war in March 1944 with a total of 63 victories after 538 sorties. This particular mount of his was lost on Feb 20th when wounded and baled out.
