• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

DR2 Bf109K-4 Asso di Bastoni

DR2 Bf109K-4 Asso di Bastoni 2024-06-14

DR2 1% Bf-109K-4 DB605DCM Karl (C3 with MW50, 30mm MK 108) W.Nr 330209 3-17, 3a Sq, 1 Gruppo Asso di Bastoni, ANR, Malpensa, Italy, April 1945

By the time the K-4 became operational, the Luftwaffe had pulled out of Italy completely, leaving the air defence of the north to the ANR alone. 19 Bf109K-4 aircraft, including this one, were however delivered to the ANR. This represents W.Nr 330209 which appears not to have served with the Luftwaffe, as the absence of individual number forward of the fuselage cross suggests.

You may be a bit surprised by the rather bright green camouflage paint. This is purely artistic licence, as nothing in the photo allows one to make the slightest concrete assumption about the actual colours used. This is RLM 83 Lichtgruen, one of two shades of green (the other being the more common RLM 82 Dunkelgruen) authorised for use in combination with RLM 81 Braunviolett, as here.

Contains an Easter egg...

Intended for MAW.
