Hurricane Mk.I 277 Q, No.1 Sqn South African Air Force, Kenya, 1940
The original 4 Hurricanes supplied to the South African Air Force were transferred up to East Africa in the course of May 1940, and began operations on 19th June 1940 with an attack on the Italian base at Yevello in Abyssinia. Unusually, they still had the two-blade Watts airscrew and cloth-covered wings, but were fitted with the tropical Vokes filter. This combination was not seen elsewhere and is specific to this Squadron.
Original model by Patrick Didier, modified to this version by Clive "Pat Pattle" Morley.
Virtual cockpit model by Mathias Pommerian, modified for fixed-pitch prop by Clive "Pat Pattle" Morley.
These textures by Nigel 'ndicki' Dickinson.
Original external textures by Brian -RobH- Hill.
VC textures by John (Bravo/4) Whelan, used with permission.
