MR Sakishima-Gunto 2016

MR Sakishima-Gunto 2016 2024-05-03

Sakishima-Gunto is the name of the island chain southwest of Okinawa, between the NE coast of Formosa and Okinawa. The Japanese had several airfields located on Ishigaki-Shima and Miyako-Jima from which they flew Kamikaze missions against American shipping lying off the coast of Okinawa. DevilDog73’s Operation Iceberg project, the British Pacific Fleet's operations against these airfields, is what got me interested in Sakishima-Gunto. It’s a very cool little group of islands with all sorts of little mini-ports tucked all around here and there- mainly to handle the ferry traffic between the islands and the fishing boats. So, it is a very target-rich environment. The scenery includes 5 major airfields: Ishigaki AF, Ishigaki-Miyara AF, Miako-Hirara AF, Miyako-Nobara AF and Miyako-Sukama AF; and 3 not so major: Hateruma-Shima AF, Tarama-Jima AF and Yonaguni-Jima AF. In addition there are dozens of ports that include their own start points- mostly flying-boat (FB) water start points. In addition to the numerous smaller ports there are also two major harbors: Ishigaki and Hirara. Its a lot of fun to fly around. The pack includes a Quick Reference guide that includes map of the various locations along with a table giving NDB Frequencies, runway headings, etc.. My list of credits and thanks you's is too long to include here but is included at the end of the readme file. Hope everyone has as much fun with this pack as I did making it!

Revisions 16/02/07
1. Missing sand002-8.bmp file, discovered by Dvslats, added to MR Sakishima-Gunto\texture folder. This caused visual anomaly, greening out, at Sakishima Harbor.
2. 9 bgls files have been tweaked, not because of any problem, but just to enhance their appearance.

That is it!
