P-51D 44-63781 was assigned to Captain Charles G. Betz, of the 531st FS/ 21st FG, based in Iwo Jima, may 1945. Capt. Betz flew combat with the 72nd FS during the Central Pacific campaign, damaging one 'Zeke' with his P-39. He transferred to the 531st in spring 1944 and became operations officer in march 1945. He flew several VLR missions with the 531st before receiving orders sending him home on 1 june 1945. Repaint by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.
