P-51D-20 44-72641 was assigned to 2Lt Joseph P.Guttierez of the 78th FS/15th FG, Airfield no.1, Iwo Jima. A native New Yorker, Lt Guttierez was assigned to the 78th FS as a replacement pilot on the 78th FS on 17 may 1945. Sweet Rosalee displays the modified markings of the 78th, adopted by midsummer 1945. Repaint of the Shockwave WWII Mustang by Jan Kees Blom, based on paintkit by John Terrell.
