Repaint- RAAF "Halestorm" skin for TRA_Meteor_F8 by John P Fortin (Blood_Hawk23)

This is my fourth repaint of the TRA_Meteor_F8. Enclosed are the textures for the aircraft and alternate textures for the drop tanks, which I have alpha channeled out. I have also included an .cfg file so you can make a separate aircraft or add the text to your current one.

Gloster Meteor F.Mk.8 'Halestorm', S.No. A77-851, 77th Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force.

Serial: A77-851
Pilot: Sgt. George Hale
A77-851 WK683 F.8 Delivered 20/08/52

Named 'Halestorm'. Halestorm was flown by Sgt George Hale who shot down a MIG during the Korean War on 27/03/1953. On 27 March 1953 he claimed one shot down and one damaged MiGs. But two F-86 pilots claimed the same MiGs. (Maj. James P. Hagerstorm - two at once!)

SGT Hale is credited with destroying a North Korean MiG-15 and damaging another on March 27, 1953. SGT Hale in ‘Halestorm’ was part of a four-ship ground attack mission, which was jumped by a number of the superior Russian-built fighters.

Sergeant George Hale (A77-851), using the weapons he had at hand, fired an air-to-ground rocket between the two Migs before engaging them with his cannons. Hale was credited with having probably shot down one of the Migs, damaging another and definitely scaring the daylights out of the two pilots he fired the rockets at.

His crew chief later painted two silhouette MiGs on the side of the Meteor, but the squadron commander ordered them removed for contravening Air Force regulations.

Converted to U.21A Struck off 08/01/64.

Cockpit on display SA Aviation Museum.

Temora Meteor VH-MBX is painted as A77-851.
