This is a repaint of the Aeroplane Heaven F4U-1A Corsair found here: www.donationware.net This texture has been painted to represent F4U-1A white 3 of Ens Frederick J Streig, VF-17, February 1944. Streig claimed five aircraft destroyed and two damaged. This F4U is depicted after his last kills-2.5 Zekes claimed over Rabaul on 27 January 1944. It is unusual in that it retains the red surround to the national insignia, a colour that only appeared with the addition of white bars on 28 June 1943-the surround was discontinued as of 31 July due to possible confusion with the enemy's Hinomaru. Special thanks to Aeroplane Heaven for providing us this great plane!!
