• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

RYAN FB-1 Fireball
by Jerry Arzdorf

A mixed-power naval fighter, with a R-1820 radial in the nose and an I-16 jet engine in the tail. The FR-1 was completely flush-riveted, had a laminar flow wing, and tricycle undercarriage. The FR-1 was too late for participation in WWII, and only 66 were built. They were retired in November 1947.

I have tried to duplicate the action of flying on one engine. The "G" key activates one of the engines. After you are airborne, press the "G" key. This will not retract the wheels but will give you both engines. By lowering the wheels it will slow down and fly as if on one engine. The wheels retract at speeds over 140 knots so lift off before that.
Always land with wheels down (one engine). The flaps and spoilers will help when making short or carrier landing.
Watch out for stalls, It will flat stall and you must have altitude to roll out.

The situation starts you at (I couldn't have guessed) Meigs.
