Warbirdsim P-51B-1NA "Old Crow".zip 2024-06-28

This is a repaint only for the Warbirdsim P-51B/C Mustang Flight Leader pack. This repaint is of P-51B-1NA, N551E, owned by Jack Roush, restored from the wreckage of 43-12252, which crashed on a training flight in 1944, then piloted by 1st Lt. Dean Gilmore who unfortunately did not survive the crash. Discovered again in 2001, the remains of the aircraft were used as the basis to basically build a brand new P-51B, with the rebuild work conducted by Cal Pacific Airmotive. Painted as Bud Anderson's original WWII mount, "Old Crow", the aircraft was finished with a Malcolm hood, and void of invasion stripes, showing the aircraft as the original Old Crow would have looked prior to D-Day. Roush decided to portray this particular time period for the scheme, since the classic lines of the P-51B shape hold up better when void of invasion stripes. The tires are also visably lacking the original white walls, as Bud Anderson was never a fan of them in the first place.
