This is a repaint only for the Warbirdsim P-51D-5-NA "Little Friends II" v2 product. Assigned to the 364th FS, 357th FG, of the 8th AF, "Hurry Home Honey" was the personal mount of Major Richard A. 'Bud' Peterson. Flying 150 combat missions over Europe by war's end, Maj. Peterson also became the highest-scoring ace of the 364th FS, with a final tally of 15.5 victories. At the age of 21, Peterson also became the youngest person to achieve the rank of Major in the Army Air Force at the time. He would later be awarded the Air Medal, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Croix de Guerre. After the war, Peterson was selected as a staff officer to interview Adolf Galland, commander of the German Air Force fighter forces, on aerial combat tactics and strategy.
