Wow three months since first mentioned in these pages!
There's a fair list of proviso's too.

I generally use TrackIR, never use preconfigured camera views, and have FlightControlReplay for MSFS.
Be interested to hear from users: what would be the advantages of dumping all the existing camera controls and going to Chaseplane?

How about more than 4 years of blatantly missing Fly-By and Tower View finally and absolute exquisitely corrected !! WOW!!! :jump:

And that's just for starters !

I have only just been assigning key- and stick bindings and that in itself is already a great joy ! I can honestly say that never in my give or take 40 years of flightsimming i have been so extremely happy and 110% satisfied with the views both externally and internally and particularly also with the process of setting them up and binding them. You begin to wonder why it sometimes turned out to be a nightmare (and i'm not pointing at FS2020 and 2024... Oh yess i am ! ;-)

Actually the one and only reason i've been awaiting Chase Plane's release was just *because* i'd be getting my most beloved Fly-By and Tower View back. FCR promised that too but turned out to be a total disaster. So i didn't really have much hope it would finally happen with CP : "Seeing is believing "....

Well, i just saw it and i not only believe it i totally LOVE IT !! :love:

Sofar i have only experienced maybe 25% of what Chase Plane has to offer but if this was it i'd already be over the moon with it ! I'm getting a certain sophisticated feeling about the program. I have no idea but the feeling is that it may have taken years to develop and test it. It's an absolute class act !

One little snatch : i'm a dedicated MSFS2024 struggler and this ChasePlane Wonder only works with 2020. So to quote the Terminator : "I'll be back ! "...

And i'm not looking for quoting this other terminator but IMHO " ChasePlane makes MSFS great again!! ".

Jan, have you tried it with FCR?
One of the issues previously was that the drone camera default keys happened also to be assigned to FCR.
There are only so many keys...
 
I absolutely hate the idea of having to pay $30 for something that is literally flight sim canon. Fly by view specifically should be considered a key feature of any flight sim and is ALWAYS an included component of EVERY flight sim view system.
MS should be embarrassed and ashamed for failing to provide that feature - or making a lazy business decision to fob it off to commercial 3rd party as a 'paid' addon feature.

Hi Wing_Z, we've come a looong way, haven't we. ;)

No, not tried with FCR yet but will asap of course because of the Replay function. Now we finally have a more than excellent Fly-By and Tower view back a Replay function will about double the fun. Little bit afraid that CP and FCR will not work together but Fabio Merlo (FCR) tried Fly-By as well but failed, maybe he and //42 will figure out a way....

Well, you can imagine i've been Flying-By and Tower Vewing only sofar, hehe (can't tell you how happy that makes me feel ! ;-) Not tried the Drone camera yet. I wonder, do we still need that thing now we've got CP ? There's also a tut within CP to un-assign MSFS bindings should they collide with new CP ones, maybe that's something to look into ? No clue really, i didn't care for that Drone thingy very much...

Hey Woooody,

Been exactly saying that over and over again but what can we do... Mr. & Mrs. MSAsobo don't care for Fly-By or Tower View. That's been clear for more then 4 years. But hey ! We've got that back now anyway and that's just for starters ! So, it's NOT a key feature and NOT an included component like it's supposed to be in FS2020 and FS2024 but look at what we DO have here as a key feature which can't be found in EVERY other flightsim program !

So we have both the best looking/performing flightsimulator and now the best working camera/view system on top of that. Skip going to the pub for one night and it's free too ! :encouragement:
 
Well, that ain't half bad, Wing_Z ! Well done ! (Great sound but i think not really Merlin..)

But with Chase Plane out now i'd love to forget about that Drone camera and FCR as well. Must say initially seeing your video i was under the impression you created it using FCR Replay and CP Fly-By.... But then i read your comment.... bummer... still a great job ! ;-)

I figure you don't have CP yet ?... Would love to hear your opinion sometime.
 
Ok, I caved and bought it. Tower view and flyby, sold!

But it will have to wait till tomorrow.

Thanks for the head up, I had Chaseplane for P3D (maybe even FSX) for a long time and dearly missed it in MSFS 2020.
Definitely a must-have.

Tonight after dinner, I'm going to try this out for the first time. probably won't spend a lot of time in the cockpit, but enjoying the tower view!

Great to see Mark back here. Purchased Chaseplane 2020 several days ago. Still setting it up but it already looks awesome. Love the Tower view. Nice that it will be free for 2024.
 
So it seems Chaseplane is making everyone happy.
I am wondering if anyone has used it to view a replay, be it FCR or however?
In my mind getting the cameras right is an important step, but only one of two.

Absofacto. Without Fly-By Replay is only half the fun although that's already waaaay more than it ever was in 2020 IMHO.

You know what's holding me back trying FCR Replay with Chaseplane, Wing_Z ?... To see the inevitable thruth confirmed that it just won't work... Atm i'm going with my own interpretation of Schrödinger's Cat...: as long as i don't try it it can either work or not ;-)

I recall again the insanely amazing 'Active Camera' by Anticyclone for FS9 that not only featured a Fly-By Camera and a Replay function but also an option to click a point alongside the runway during final approach " from with the VC ! " so you could watch your landing in External View from that exact POV over and over again during Replay. They would not hear of adapting their amazing AC for FSX because it had it's own Fly-By camera and Replay system (if i remember correctly), but they could've been our holy saviours in MSFS2020/24 !

Anyway, Chaseplane proves a great saviour as well ! I'll put CP/FCR to the test today or tomorrow, Wing_Z. Better not put your hope up too much ;)
