A Lockheed "Rounder"

Hi! I have noticed a little thing on the harpoons and I'm not sure if it's normal or note it's the reason why i post this message!
There is a transparence zone near the cockpit like on the photo.
It appears on FSX with all the glasses of the cockpit.

Is it normal?

Thank you in adance!
Best regards!

Jules, this is a pesky problem that is also seen in FS9. I have tried so far without success to correct it. I am thinking of replacing the exterior model panel with a bmp to eliminate the issue. I am sorry that this annoyance is there. Maybe I will get it resolved eventually.

Thanks for the offer Maty. I am basically done with the aircraft modeling except for a few bits in the nose section.
I didn't quite understand, did you mean you want the pictures to help with those few bits or are those bits different and you don't want the pictures because the plane's basically done?

Maty,

I was looking for good reference pictures of objects in the nose section of the glass nosed Ventura IIa to see what instrumentation, cameras, bomb sites, gauge might be in that nose section.

If you have anything like that, I would appreciate pictures.

It sounded like you were referring to the cockpit ... that modeling is now done.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Milton, good luck and congratulations again for your fantastic work!

Andre, for some reason I cannot download these 4 paints, still. I have tried on 2 different computers. Anyone else have success with downloading them?

Apologies, don't understand why some downloads work and others don't. :banghead:

I've uploaded them to Dropbox again, but to a different location. I've checked and they download to my PC, but as I don't have a second I cannot test these, so please let me know if there are still issues and I'll put them onto another site.

Are we required to register to download? It seems to want a login or no dice.

Ok, finally figured out what the problem is, I've reached my download limit of 10GB per month. Plenty of Lodestar downloads. :applause:

I've put then on my Google Drive, but never used it before so hope this works. :dizzy:

AI Lodestar to Try

Here is my first round on the AI Lodestar with the PW engine. It has been cut back significantly and should work well in small quantities.
The texture load is a very small 1.85 MB.

I included only the metal textures. They have been downsized and converted to DXT1 and DXT3.

If you want to add other liveries, only the fuse, wings, tails, and eng0/1 bmps need to be added, downsized and formatted.

Share you insights on problems or issues, recommendations, etc.

If you wish to fly it, just change the air file table 105 value from a 2 to a 0.

Thanks

Hello Lockheed fans. I am making the final changes now to prepare the Lodestar C-57 and C-60A for a full beta.

The package will include textures of metal, base white, Goodtime Gal, and RAF ME.

I will need another 6-8 hours to wrap up things and do the packaging and uploads, so hopefully by Sunday morning my time - GMT-7.

Hi Milton,

I've tested the AI version as an AI aircraft, and it seems to work fine. Takes off OK, lands a bit slow (around 55 kts) with a bit of a "drop" onto the runway (typical of taildraggers), and looks nice (of course). Here are Gary Harper's National textures (reduced and converted to DXT3 format) at Miami in 1957, ready to fly to Key West or other small Florida town:

Now all I need is the other engine choice, since that's what National used. :)

Thanks,

Thanks,

That does look very nice Tom. Gary did outstanding on that beautiful paint scheme.

Yes, I will do the other variant; was waiting to see if other changes were required first.

Will get it out this weekend.

Thanks for testing this one out for me. :)

Hi,

You're certainly welcome.

Found one minor nit. In the aircraft.cfg file the line:

atc_parking_code =

should be:

atc_parking_codes =

Hope this helps,

You are right of course; thank you. On the landing thing, what does teh sim use to determine landing speed? Can you not just increase the stall speed to correct that.

I have now completed the package for both engined models. I have also made the package suitable for testing with two .air files; one for AI and one flyable.
It of course would also work well for MP flights as a low poly, low texture load aircraft package. Just alias the panel and sounds folder to the full packaged Lodestar (when available).

I am uploading the full AI L-18 package now, but attach it here for convenience.

Lockheed Lodestar C-57 and C60A Military Models Beta Upload

I have just uploaded the Lodestar military variants for a full beta test. This represents all the textures I have now for the C-57 and C60A, but not necessarily all that will be in the final release.

The link below can be used to get to it when approved.

If you download this beta v1.0, please provide feedback right here, by PM or email. I prefer it here so all can see the issues.

I will be working on the beta release for the L-18 variants over the next few days.

Milton, I went to Dover AFB and I don't know if it's a field modification, but that exhaust stack seemed a lot different. I can't send the pictures, for some reason, from my phone to the PC. Found these online of that same aircraft I saw there (Though these were of it just after arrival, while I saw it years later:

C-60A42-55918DoverAFB52171024x620_zpsdbc6507c.jpg

Unlike my shots, they don't really show the stack itself very well, but they do show the lack of a long stack. It instead had 5 short ones barely popping out of the cowling. As I said before, I am unsure if this is a field modification, a civil conversion or what, but I thought you should see it.

Also, been testing this bird out if FSX and she is working great. She does fly very nose high (Around 30, maybe 40 degrees during level flight), which is rather odd, but I assume so does the real C-60. Handles very well, especially love the easy take offs.
