A2A Aerostar Released!

And if you bought the Comanche from their site, you'll have points you can use to knock the (steep but certainly to be worth it) $49.99 price down by about $5.

Oh, look, I bought another Piper.

Quick first impressions on a lunchbreak flight:

1) Despite the "90% done" beta state, the only thing I noticed right offhand that didn't work was the flaps. So, gonna have to land hot!
2) Sound is really good.
3) Visuals are well done. If you have the A2A Comanche, this feels similar
4) Nice integration with the FS2024 EFB, including the ability to enable the GTN750 if you have it installed.
5) Handling feels good, but I didn't do any extensive tests yet.

Okay, flaps do work, but you have to use the control to make the motor raise/lower them. I haven't been able to bind them to an axis (the axis makes the control move, but the flaps don't) or buttons.

It's a little quirky (beta), but it sure feels real. Now that I can dirty it up, the handling on landing is really interesting.

Denny,

On my X52, I have the up button assigned to "Decrease Flaps" and the down button assigned to "Increase Flaps" in the MSFS Controls GUI.

Also, check that the Hydraulic Pump Switch was in the On position.

For me flaps also work. Unfortunately my laptop that I currently use is not really up to FS24. Will have to try it properly in December when I'm completely back at my own place with stable internet. Looking forward to that.

Finally got the flaps working. I was using "Decrease (continuous)" which seemed right for how the switch works. Used the settings FAC257 recommended and it's now working fine. Waaay easier to land with the flaps, which are barn doors on this thing. (And from PIREPs that's very accurate.)

This is really nicely done. Excited to see an actual manual. Unfortunately, can't find a pilot's handbook for the real Aerostar online.

Found this searching for Aerostar info. Wonder if Scott was able to get the plane fixed, or if it was written off? (Edit: N122PC registration expired and was never renewed, which sadly sounds like the plane was scrapped.)

Denny,

I am pretty sure that landing was the end of that aircraft for Scott.

BTW, between those flaps and the rocket ship acceleration during takeoff, I was flying out of a lot of small airfields, hard and soft surface during testing. Fast a heck but also almost STOL.

I managed to take a quick flight over O'ahu earlier. While I still had troubles with the sim itself and terrain loading, the aircraft was very enjoyable! Fun to cruise around with and also convincing outside of the cruise envelope.
