ADE question, Parameters for Effects

Hi all,

It is me again. I have a flame with smoke effect that I have placed in my Morotai scenery. When I am first in the scenery the smoke effect is visible. However after flying around for 5-10 minutes the smoke disappears.

When I open the "edit window" for that effect I see a box called Parameter(s). I am able to place the cursor there so I think "some Parameter" can be filled in there. But I am at a loss at how that should be filled in.

I have not been able to find anything addressing this in the manuals, or in the help when I search on effects parameters.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

To be plain: This is not a question about the effect's cfg. file. It is a question about a "parameter" that can be filled in in the edit window of the effect itself in ADE.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers, Joe

The parameters are described in the FSX SDK manual (SDK Manual.chm in the main SDK folder) under "Special Effects Tool" => "How To Place Effects in Flight Simulator" The parameters are listed in a yellow box under "The Effect section". I believe you can put any/all of these into the Parameter box in ADE, separated by semi-colons.

Be aware that there is a wrinkle with DAY/NIGHT/DAWN/DUSK. DAY/NIGHT are incompatible with DAWN/DUSK. So if you want an effect to appear at dawn and during the day, you have to place it twice, once with DAWN=1 and again with DAY=1.

DickB,

Thanks for that info. I will check it out. It may be awhile before I can report back.

Thanks again,

Joe
