'Ah - Bob Hope'....

I forgot that he was deemed to be a veteran 10 years ago by Congress, even though he never officially served. I think it was well deserved endowment. He often went to very dangerous places, sometimes by himself, just to entertain the troops. He was always very dedicated to service people and keeping the morale up. He sometimes missed the big holidays with his family to be there with service men who couldn't be home themselves. He was great at what he did. A stamp is just a small, yet fitting tribute to a rather large, giving person.

Bob Hope has done more to support our armed forces than just about any other civilian. He's entertained the troops in more combat zones around the world than most military vets will ever see in a 30-year career. I was privileged to see two of his Christmas road shows during Vietnam. I'm gonna get a bunch of his stamps when they come out so I can at least get a little morale boost when I pay bills. :d Thanks for the memories Bob!

I also saw him at Christmas while in VN. It was a great show and quite a mini-R&R from the war.

This is a well deserved honor for him. It's a shame he isn't still here to see it.

Several years ago when I was still working televised celebrity golf events I got to work the Bob Hope Desert Classic one year while Bob was still alive.

I never got to actually talk to him, but was around him several times through the week. Even got to walk escort for his limo through the crowd as he arrived.

I felt honored just to have been able to see him in person and to help him out a little bit.

Bob Hope is sponsoring a Golf Tourney here in J'ville within the next couple weeks ...

Yeah I know he's dead ... but to hear the radio advertisments, it sounds like he's going to make an appearance ...
