It's a good idea as a general practice, to check your graphics settings after any sim update or graphics card software updates you install, or just as a routine preflight check. That's what I do every time I open MSFS.
In the case of settings being changed by those programs, I only remember one instance of an MSFS sim update making changes to the MSFS GUI graphics and or data settings. But the reason I check after every update is to learn whether the updates might allow me to
increase my settings - or cause me to have to decrease them - due to whatever the new graphics card version or sim update may have changed.
Sometimes you win - and sometimes you lose - but it's always a good idea to check it.
