• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Alternate Real-World Weather server?

Is there a better free real-world weather provider for FS9? I am flying from my local airport with real-world weather - the skies are clear, the wind still - which is very odd considering that it has been gusting hugely and snowing heavily for the past hour and has been overcast since 3PM yesterday!

Yes, that does stink. Another MS/Vista shortfall.

MSINET.OCX, a Visual Basic run-time does not ship with Windows Vista. Check
this:
Support Statement for Visual Basic 6.0 on Windows Vista:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vbrun/ms788708.aspx
Therefore the application manufacturer has to bundle the runtime along with
the software.

I don't know if you can put it in your folder but msinet.ocx should be in your C:\WINDOWS\system32 of course that is on XP not vista but if Vista has a Windows\system32 folder but if you do you should be able to add it.

I leave it to Active Sky 6.5 payware, well worth the dinero. It's for FS2004, but with the same FSUIP module in GW3, it'll work there too. And I use its METAR engine rather that REX's in FSX, though I use REX texture Themes. With the FSUIP 4.0 module in FSX, it works better and quicker than REX's engine. Doesn't take six or more minutes to load either.
