Ambrose: No Apologies - Harvick Backs Ambrose...

NASCAR should have kept out of it, I haven't heard anyone that was pleased with their decision.

During the race today I heard that NASCAR really did not have a problem until Ambrose made a fist and punched Mears. If it had remained a pushing and shoving contest, NASCAR would not have intervened. I guess this is really about image, back in the day, well, we'll just say it was a more manly sport.

Allison and Yarborough ............:biggrin-new:
FTR, Marcus is usually pretty amiable but if push comes to shove then he will react (just as I would).

Ahh back in the day.

Yeah to me nascar died when Earnhardt died. Then the rules came and that buried it. Now they are all Indy Sally boy wanta bes.

There is not a driver left that could hang with any of the Old drivers. Can you picture any of them racing against Richard Petty (before the big wreck) or Bobby Allison. Nevermind Cale Yarborough or Junior Johnson.

Even the softer drivers like Harry Gant, Buddy Baker, Bill Elliot and Darrell Waltrip would give them a run.

Back before there was powerstearing and pit road was anyones game. The sport might be more commercial but its not better racing IMHO.

Oh well times change I guess.

Hey All,

Most of the drivers of today could hang with the old guys. Remember we are talking in today's cars not the cars of yesteryear - and even in the cars of yesteryear these guys could hang - long as they had their CCs from today with them and their pit crews. And even if you take a just driver from today and put him in a car from yesteryear as long as he takes his knowledge back with him he could hang and win. Otherwise the question is of no value because you have no basis for judgement.

In many of Petty's cars in the past Danica Patrick could most likely beat everyone like Richard did. Put Danica in a winged superbird in it's first race - put her in a 426 hemi in it's first race and she would smoke everybody. In those days the car mattered more. She is strong enough.

Stewart can...
I also think Brian Vickers & Clint Bowyer could too...

and Kyle Larson,Kyle Busch.........to me "back in the day".....those "always ran" guys didnt have the guts to try to race the "big names"...they moved over and let em go...todays bunch wont..they race them..and look at Biffles record...when he would be a lap or two down...even more at times...and he would battle the leader to not loose another lap..the thing with the old days...the leader would be 4-5 or more laps ahead of even second place.....and thats not racing.
