• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Anybody think its worth the time and effort to try this?

I was thinking about going around and seeing if i could get any of the long time addon makers to release there FS98/2000/2002 addons as freeware either here or on Archive.org . I don't see why they wouldn't since afaik none of them still profit from them and they would seem important from a historical standpoint due to there age. I don't know. The archivest and retro gamer sides of me are finally colliding head on i guess.

Any interest in me putting in the time and the effort? Not to mention having general interest mentioned in this thread would help the cause a bit.

Petition maybe? I dont know :banghead:

EDIT: Can anyone think of a reason (beyond sheer greed) a studio wouldn't want a product they no longer (and never will again) profit from as freeware? If anything having there name on it should be free advertising right?

Great stuff. I'm sure there are some decent Fs2002 stuff that can be modded for Fs2004.

Count me in! Would be great, even if only 30% of the designers would be willing to make their "stuff" freeware.

hertzie.

Great idea!!!:encouragement:

I'm still running FS95 and 98 (and of course CFS1) on some machines, so you got my vote for sure!

It could be that developers are hesitant to release older packages due to support issues. When you make your request, you might mention that it's alright if they release them with a "no support offered" disclaimer.

I'm officially re-activating this project. Does anybody here with developer connections wish to help out? It would be nice to have a more familiar face to the community backing the effort.
