Imagine a small air service company in the arid desert/agricultural countryside of Southern California during the nineteen fifties.

There's two or three beefed-up R-985 Stearman, and then there's the boss' favorite, an un-plumbed biplane that nobody can really identify. Sure, it's got a familiar R-790 bolted on the front, but nobody can really pin down just what it is.
