• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Mt Charleston has a web page. Mostly weather. But the page has info tabs (Earthquakes, Blog, etc) which are interesting. I spent 3 years up on mountain (8,560 ft-Angel's Peak) in the early 60's and love that area. Here is link: http://mtcharlestonweather.com/index.php . Don't forget to bookmark so you can go back.

It is a very good thing you are doing. I wish I had the time to volunteer like you do.

It is appalling how little respect people have for the environment these days. The little time I do spend volunteering is helping out at a bird of prey rehabilitation center. Between cleaning and educational programs, I've got to meet a lot of cool people (and birds). Perhaps the best part of volunteering there is that I get to learn a lot about the world around us. There are so many things in nature that everyone takes for granted every day. If you slow life down a bit and lay in some grass at a park or take a short walk through a prairie you'll notice countless other worlds and lives around you. It really puts things in perspective for me. For these reasons and many more, it is of utmost importance we preserve these natural areas.

Thank You, Sir. :salute: :medals:

I do wish they would spend more time in schools and educational facilities hammering home the need for us to look after our enviroment. It would pay dividends in the future.
