IIRC the Flight replicas 109F/G was available as Freeware on their site, and Bomber12th did that very repaint, it's here in Library

The now freeware skyunlimited Bf109 is actually a "Friedrich" model. But the Friedich and and Gutstav (G-2) look very similar.
This repaint by John "Bomber_12th" Terrell is actually specifically made for the model towards which post #5 by Motermouse points.

Hi Huub; IIRC there were no visual changes between the 'F' and 'G' variants initially ; the ' G' got uprated DB engine, it was only as improved armaments became available and installed that the sub variants G6 onwards, got the extra bulges over the gun breeches, as the rebuilt "black 6" is a G2 variant ( G4 was the actual 'Tropical' factory built) with presumably the field tropical modification same as the F4 variant got, it has no bulges. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_109_variants

You are correct Pete, in shape there are hardly any differences between the early G models and the F models. There are some minor differences, mainly like the location of the supply connections like the fuel caps, power connections etc. Technically there were quite some changes.
The late G versions have bigger differences like the bulges, different tails sections, alternative wings, different rudders, alternative canopies etc. These changes were caused by production problems, like shortage of materials and skilled craftsmen, but also to cope which changes in armament. the K (Kurfurst) was mainly an attempt to standardise and simplify production.

The F-4 was the more aerodynamic version whit its retractable tail wheel. Never understood why Messerschmidt didn't stay with that in their later versions.
The positive aerodynamic effects were most likely not in balance with the extra weight and mechanical complexity of a retractable tail wheel.
The same happened with the Spitfire. The Mk. VIII model had a retractable tail wheel, which was already abandoned with the Mk. IX again.
But I agree a retractable tail wheel looks much better in flight

Most likely to do with ease of manufacture; and the need to get tails into service as soon as possible, eliminating the retraction mechanism saves weight and makes assembly quicker in the factories

Prolly due to a lack of resources too.
Gents,not sure what's gone belly up,but neither re-paint will work with the SU 109F.
I let the SU installer do it's thing and checked within the sim that it was working as it should(some nice F-4 trops too)
and then put in B12th's first re-paint I'd down loaded as per instructions,restarted the sim and checked within.
All the F-4 trops had vanished leaving just the "G-2 Black 6".
I clicked on it and was confronted with a grey 109 without the re-paint, exit the sim and check that everything was in the right place in the
Fs9 programme files and the right script in the airfile,still no joy.
D/L'ed B12th's second repaint of Black 6, removed the original repaint and airfile script,replacing it with the updated paint files and the airfile script.
Go into the sim,same result,no F-4 trops and a grey Black 6.........

Hi, can you post the first part from the aircraft configuration file with all the aircraft entries. As is it difficult to understand what went wrong, without being able to see them.
There are two main reasons why textures don't show up. One of the reason is that the name of the texture folder file, doesn't match with the entry in the aircraft configuration file. And the second reason is that the texture names don't match with the model. This is easy to check by comparing the names of the textures with the names of the original ones.

As I didn't have the aircraft installed I downloaded both the model and the repaint.
The model installed without problems and so did the the textures with authentic tail markings when I installed this.
I did put the texture.Black 6 from John Terrell's repaint in the SU_BF_109F_4 folder and copied the entry included in John's readme as the new entry after the last entry in the aircraft configuration file and changed the X into [fltsim.25].
The model and all original liveries appeared, but not the Black 6 repaint. A quick check showed that the folder name had a space between the black and the 6 and the entry in John's readme file didn't.
After changing this in the aircraft configuration file all liveries include black 6 appeared without a problem.
So I think you did something wrong in the sequence, which caused the other repaints not to appear and John made an error in the readme file.
When you use the aircraft configuration file included attached zip file everything should work without problems as it does at my computer.
