Call of Duty: World at War.

Anyone else playing this..?

The Call of Duty series goes back to WW2 after CoD4, this time you can fight the Japanese as part of the American marines and fight the Germans as part of the Russian army. The Russian campaign starts at Stalingrad and continues a few years later with the push towards Berlin, and includes the obligatory niper and tank missions. The US campaign will take you to several islands, starting with the invasion of Peleliu and then moves to Okinawa. (Don't know what happens next yet.)

In CoD4 we could control the guns of an AC-130 Gunship, in WaW we get to be a gunner aboard a 'Black cat' Catalina. This includes moving through the aircraft from gun to gun, and even includes a waterlanding to pick up survivors.

Over here the games is rated 18+ which is a good thing considering the strong language and amount of blood and violence; this has to be the most grim episode of the CoD series so far. Especially the junglefights against the Japanese can be gruesome, with kamikazi attacks and snipers up in the trees and the option to clear areas using a flame thrower.

The games uses the CoD4 engine, but the system requirements are slightly higher. It does run pretty smooth on my system (C2D 2.13 Ghz, 2 Gb ram and GeForce 8800GT 512mb, 1680x1050 resolution) although I did lower the texture quality settings a bit.

allthough it looks nice, i just cant stand the fact your tunneled through the levels, after far cry 2 the gameplay seems extremly "forced", also .. the fact the 50 cal and mg42s are more acurate standing then either the tommy gun or the mp40 made me throw the thing in the bin :kilroy:

Allthough the black cat level was fun :D

It sure is fun, but the single player campaign was a little too unrealistic for me. The whole level with the Reichstag drove it over the edge for me. Had that not been the last level, I think I would have given up on campaign.
Visuals are stunning and multiplayer is great fun though.(anyone else like the nazi-zombie mini-game?)

Hey All,

Hmm interesting looking but...

I tend to be a General not a Private and so big strategic games like the old Avalon Hill Series are more my style. The one below is Battles in Normandy from Strategic Studies Group.

My son would probably like this COD though.

Incredible screenshots! When I first saw Medal of Honour (years ago) I thought that was the best it could get :isadizzy:.

So did I!
I still love the mission where you had to redo the landing at Omaha beach; still a classic! After that came CoD1 which was good too, and CoD2 with the Point-du-Hoc and Hill 400 missions which are still some of the best ever imho. CoD4 was fun too even though it played on the modern battlefields. Before I got WaW I finished Brothers in Arms: Hell's highway which is a very good WW2 game as well. More of a tactical shooter though. Don't have the previous two games in that series but since HH takes place in the Netherlands I couldn't resist it.

Looks good but notice the prices these days..... And, it'll probably play like MOH Airborne does on my computer.... stutters like a machinegun or freezes up. Tho it's strange that COD4 plays great.

I'm thinking of reloading the whole MOH series and COD.

:wavey:

This game looks amazing, I hope me rig can handle it, I'm happy they went back to WWII....Sweet !! :ernae:

Thx for the Screen Shots !! :applause:

Many Cheers !!

I don't do F-P-S-ters, but my eldest has all of the CoD sims on X-Box 360. He despises PC games because they're too slow in loading and playing compared to the X-Box and he can't get online with his buddies and chat while they're playing without getting Skype. His 360 is cable hook up and he subscribes to X-Box live where all that's included. You cannot get screen-in-screen on a PC either like with the 360, so he can play when friends are over. I tell ya, this younger generation gonna make the PC obsolete.
