CFS3 exe dive into the abyss

I was comparing exe files and found in the CFS3.exe there are kevent (I think keyboard event) entries for things like strobe lights, brakes, landing lights etc. Also items like ADF and so on. It seems to me that the CFS3 exe and FS2000 may share a bunch of code. Just saying......

Interesting. Personally I think that CFS3 has more in common with FSX (ie xml usage, separate cockpits to external models etc), Fs2000 was old hat by CFS3 time. I think CFS3 is possibly the combat version of FSX, and it's just that they developed the civvy FSX version...as it was more commercially viable.

....hmmmm I wonder???

There are things like this in CFS2. There are also quite a few indications in FSDS by Louis Sinclair, that there was so much more projected for CFS2 and Fs2004. Be great to get M$ to give the real reasons for them.

Cheers

Of course, why not?
Both were published by the same company and the same development team.
The only difference between them is the ability to destroy other objects or not.

Ummm… FSX has a round earth environment afaik, but CFS3 uses a flat sandbox of limited size. Which is why we have different theatres of operations for ETO, MAW, PTO etc.

The issue is FSX uses xml gauges and the gauges in CFS3 are coded into the exe. To me that is the biggest limitation that we cannot add new gauges like CFS2 and the current FS sims. I know we can hotkey gauges as Steve did with the radar, ILS etc. I am just struggling how to understand Cheatengine to develop some options. Auto hot key seems doable especially with AI, but maybe after I finish up the current stable of planes.
