• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

CFS3 Online Multiplayer Games

Been following what going on at SOH.

I know I am not in the game anymore. The times I spent with the community are some great memories. I have my reasons for not flying. Nothing to do with the boys that fly. But I do check in and follow what's going on. And lately that's been pretty bad stuff.

Last time I posted I was accused of attacking another member and was threatened with being banned when I simply asked a question. Apparently asking questions is now attacking...SMH

Back in the day on SOH we would have a blast with host IP games drawing in full houses every night and mission nights were always booked up. The posts that followed where hilarious as we celebrated fun boys night and comradery. Yeah sure sometimes a bit edgy but hey we are all adults yes?..... and then.....woke BS. Cant be an adult anymore. Can't say anything that might offend someone. Can't make fun of anyone or anything without offending someone. Is this because of spineless admins? Once again a question not a statement. And the result is obvious. You now have virtually no one flying IP games anymore and you just lost another host. Congratulations.

I know you will read this and try and justify your behavior . Have fun with that.....

Time for a new place to host IP games. Boys keep an eye out for some PMs...unless I get blocked and censored....

For everyone's benefit, this started with politics and y'all can read what's written at the top of this and every forum page. Once again, I don't care what your politics are, and none of you know what my political opinions are either. Let's keep it that way.

Sure is a shame that one individual who has NEVER FLOWN WITH US, watches our posts like an old woman peering out the blinds, has cost SOH so many enthusiastic members.

I originally checked this thread to get a sense of what missions you were flying and to maybe fly with you guys. The political nonsense and general goofiness turned me off instantly.

Politics has always been avoided in the forums out of respect for other members who don't really give a damn about your political leanings or mine. I initially simply commented that the political stuff should be moved to Canelo's Cantina. I did NOT start a crusade to stop your activities.

By your own admission, you were surprised that some conservative didn't object to your lefty shenanigans. You acted shocked when someone finally gave you the response you solicited and proclaimed you were a charter member who had made a financial contribution to the forum. That is truly commendable but it does NOT entitle you or anyone else to make political proclamations or post objectional pics in the forms.

BTW - I'm not the one who ran to a mod to cry, I was just going to let nature take it's course. When Dangerousdave finally stepped in, he didn't do a damn thing except block me from seeing your posts while logged in. That sure was brilliant! But ok, message received and so I backed off.

I'm sorry your BUTT HURT that you can't post political propaganda anymore (it took the mods forever to wake up) but again, nobody is stopping your flying activities. If you can't accept that, then don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Well now we have two SOH moderators and administrators giving a THUMPS UP, and encouraging with their support, more abusive behavior within SOH and to this post. SOH administration appears to have hit another new low. Very telling of the current existing climate that is circulating behind the scenes within the SOH administration. Perhaps it is time for me too, as well, to move on and host my games elsewhere, and so, as a result SOH becomes, again, just a little smaller and just a little less irrelevant, NETWINGS on the way.

Sadly a simple apology from SOH earlier would have been all that was needed avoid the present situation, something to the effect that sorry we made a mistake. Sorry the policy regarding Political and Religious content was removed during the site move but now has been reinstated. Unfortunately that was not SOH Administration's response. Instead the members are greeted with the SOH staff message " members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed". Somehow implying members should know better, somehow it is the members fault, and attempting to avoid any blame for the part SOH Administration played in the cause of these misunderstandings. Just how would members conceivably know this policy was not removed at the time? But SOH Administration continued to delete posts EVEN AFTER it was brought forward to SOH Administration's attention that the Policy DID NOT Exist at the time. The blame for this policy omission lay only with SOH staff and with no one else but SOH Administration, and in my view , not the members. I imagine my open criticism of the SOH Administration actions and in this case inaction regarding the policy, will in all likely hood be met with this post now being deleted in the continued spirt of fire suppression.
 
That works both ways, one-eye. If those who have insisted on their supposed “rights” were to acknowledge perhaps they went a little over the top it would help to cool this completely unnecessary argument down. Rather than shouting in public, the exchanges which began in private messages could have settled this a month ago.

Well Foo Fighter declared earlier that he didn’t report the posts, and I believe him when says that. If you repeat the accusations in the way Gustooo did, that can be considered as a personal attack, which is against the standard rules of this site. So FF had every right to speak up, when Gustooo repeated the accusation. Hence my thumps up.

You have been here long enough to know that politics and religion are a no go on the SOH, common sense implies that that didn’t change with a server switch. Implying that the rules didn’t exist at the time is IMHO a petty justification for this behavior. I understand that you’ve got a one-eyed vision (no pun intended!) on this, defending Gustooo, but we as admins and mods have another vision on this.

Firstly, Policies come, policies go for what ever reason. The fact remains, there was NO posted policy in place and the SOH administration appears incapable of seeing the role it has played here in chasing away members And this bares repeating, "Just how would members conceivably know this policy was not removed at the time?"
Wishing the policy was posted at that time doesn't make it so. What is so difficult about saying ' sorry' a mistake happened, we are all human, this happens.
Secondly, my point regarding the Thumps Up and the internal current existing climate at SOH administration appears to have been missed. Members hope that SOH administration would remain neutral , unbiased and certainly not lend support to verbal abusive comments like "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!" This is not in the spirit the this site.
 
Making false accusations isn't in the spirit of this site. But I get it: you just can't leave it alone and you have to go on. I won't accommodate you and won't respond anymore.

I would agree about neutrality. I wish Dangerousdave exercised it when administering his Ghandi like wisdom. Abusive comment? Have you actually read through the thread? And I stand by my statement. If a member can't exercise some self control to NOT post political innuendos after being warned not to, then adios.

I'm big enough to take a few jokes about my values and the things I believe in. But when they are presented in a hateful manner and hammered home time and time again either in direct comments or innuendo with nearly every post, then I got a problem. It doesn't matter that I or anyone else who doesn't share in the hate is not a regular visitor to the thread, the issue exists and should have been addressed long before now.

AGAIN, I don't want to stop your activities! I actually strongly encourage it. I just wanted the Political nonsense to stop, that's all.

This argument has gone on long enough. Foo Fighter, please reign in your indignation; your previous post was sailing very close to the wind. One-eye, you and I have already talked about this in PMs so I won’t repeat my last to you verbatim.

The person accused of peering out the blinds is me. I am devastated at this stiletto-like skewering of my behaviour – well no, someone has forgotten that's my job here, a job I wasn't doing well enough or I'd have picked up on the political nonsense much earlier. Mea culpa.

The clear prohibition on politics and religion was part of the SOH terms of membership for years, but was not expressly included in the terms for the new software used on this (much cheaper) forum. How that happened I don't know, but it did, but for long-term members to assume SOH had suddenly gone soft on politics especially is a big stretch. Do any of you read the terms of membership before logging in each day? I sure don't. As previously stated, y'all can now read the clear re-statement of historic SOH policy and the reasons for it at the top of this and every page.

I have been named a "Red Hat" and a "MAGAT" by a member who knows nothing of my politics but thinks I'm a US voter and seems incapable so far of dealing with those who disagree with him except in terms of acrimonious US politics. That member is now having a period of absence to cool his heels. When or if he returns I will still not be a US voter – I'm not even US resident and I'm just going to leave that there.

SOH is run by staff members for the benefit of all its members. These members include people who come here to escape life, political strife and controversy for a while and they're entitled to consideration too. SOH is also run by unpaid volunteers in their spare time. Next time you have a grievance about the job they do, you might remember that and cut the staff some slack, just as I have cut people in this argument some slack. If the very public political arguments continue, you will find that I'm now mighty short of slack on this subject.
