Change a mdl file of an airplane in FSX

Hello,

I would like to change a mdl file of an airplane in FSX. Basically, this is easily possible with ModelConverter X. Unfortunately, the MDL is so big on my calculator, the converter is unfortunately not able to. In addition, in this case the copyright speaks against changing the original.

As a rule, the model.cfg file now consists of two entries:

[models]
normal=xxx
interior=yyy

Is there a possibility to load three entries at this point? So for example:

[models]
normal=xxx
model1=xxxy (??)
interior=yyy

At the same time, two exterior models should be visible together in the FSX

I would be grateful for any hint.

greetings
Klaus

Hi Klaus,
Unfortunately you have been missed sitting here in the cupboard! ha!

I think you mean you want to add another mdl to view whilst flying the ac?

How would you want to see this? Do you want to put ordinance or carry something externally on the ac?

As you say you can add in an mdl with MCX, but it it is too large. I appreciate about copyright, but this is not a commercial project, and you are doing it for yourself, so no problem there.

Overall this is not possible to add in an mdl and ask the aircraft.cfg to 'call' the new mdl, at the same time as the main mdl. The only way is to combine the new mdl with the old.

PM me with your ideas, and we'll see what we can do.

Cheers

Shessi
