• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Character limit For Private Message

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

I do not know which subforum I am supposed to post my question on SOH forums as I do not see any subforum for tech support for SOH website and its forums.

I am curious to know why there is 5,000 character limit for each private message sent within the SOH forums. I was writing technical explanation on aviation via PM to a SOH member only to find out I am not allowed to send PM because my message contains 16,000 character which is over the limit of 5,000 characters per post.

Wondering why is that and wondering how SOH members can exchange aviation related technical ideas via PM between themselves if there is 5,000 character limit??

Or is it maybe simple oversight on part of SOH management who does not realize that in middle of recent overhaul and remodernization of the SOH forums and website the SOH management accidentally set 5,000 character limit on each private message?? I never had experienced 5,000 character limit per post before via PM on SOH forums.

Don't remember what it was on the old software, but it's now 20K.
