Conspiracy: Jr Let Jimmie Win At Dover

what a bunch of BS,,,,jimmy johnson is the better driver hands down, people need to get over "Jr",,people on that site are saying since when did 2 tires beat 4?.....OMG..have they ever watched a nascar race???....and then youve got the FACT chad knaus can set up a car better than just about anyone in nascars history, and the FACT that jimmie johnson has driven many types of racing machines, where jr has only run stock cars..yes it does mater,BTW many nascar drivers have much much better car control than jr ever dreamed of...

JJ isn't great, he is good. If you put him with any other crew chief his halo would quickly disappear. The same could be said for Petty and Inman. :a1451:

yes i do agree with that, but he is also one of those rare guys who can truely drive and win with almost anything he drives..there are many others...but dale jr isnt one of them...one thing i agree with my father on is that dale jrs crash and fire at sonoma affected him...he hasnt been the same as he was since....i mean he could really wheel the busch car....but sorta like larson...he wins almost everything in sprint cars..and siphons at nationwide...yet he feels he CAN drive a cup car because it suits him better.....which highly disappointed me...i thought he would have been good in anything...i drove four styles of cars in my day and i was able to win right out of the box in all four..and i dominated at one point in sprint cars..but could i drive a cup car?...i could have in the mid 80s..not sure about the new gen6 cars...mater of fact i was asked to join a team in 1983 ( i believe it was,the start of the "busch series")but i needed help from my family to move..and they refused to help me..my dad thought it more important to be his employee in the plumbing company...and in those days i darent argue with him...

Don't know about this.
He's done very well in all those races that Chad was banned...

Hey All,

I'd like to see proof of cell communication - conspiracy theories are just that - no validity.

As for the original question: Both from USA Today

Earnhardt said he had "arguably the best car" Sunday. During the final round of pit stops, his team changed four tires, while the top three — Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon — took only two, in theory giving the 88 a better footprint for the final laps.

"We left everybody in the mirror," said Earnhardt, who restarted fourth. "We were clicking off some laps, but just not fast enough to get to Jimmie."

Knaus knew taking two tires would eventually be trumped by four, but had already figured there would be enough time to hold off Earnhardt. Busch took the lead with two tires earlier in the race and was overtaken in 27 laps, Knaus observed; on Sunday's final run, there were only 26 laps left.

"We worked hard and tried to understand what we needed to do for strategy and, fortunately, it paid off for us," he said.

Nobody has won more Cup races at Dover than Jimmie - he knows this track. He had a 5 sec lead before that last caution - his car was that good and Knaus said two was good for them in practice (said at NASCAR.com). No way Jr let him win.
