CT210N By Carenado

I just saw this in the Marketplace for about $20. I'm kinda torn as to whether I should get it or not. I already have their 182RG, but extra seats and power are tempting. The only videos I can find on it are in the '24 sim, but I do see an interior copilot there.

Decisions...

Tom, I personally really like the model. The real C210 is the only high power complex aircraft I have flown and it is a beast. This model sure seems in the ballpark. BTW, the first time I flew a C210 was from ILM to GSO. The owner-pilot put me in the left seat and boy, when that power came in at the start of the TO roll, it was a bit intimidating after flying 150's and 172's.

I also flew one. Back then, my 125-130 pound butt and 1/2 tanks made the 210 into a fighter! LOL! She'd climb like a homesick angel. I was flying it back from SSI when I got over the pier at Daytona. The right fuel bladder let go. I had just put a cigarette out not more than 30 seconds before that. All the fuel on that side was pouring out of the wing, some seeping through the door, the rest flowing along the fuselage, etc. I was cautious with the throttle movements. I didn't want it to bark or pop and set the plane on fire with all that atomized fuel following me! I landed at Daytona about 5 miles away and taxied to a freshly laid asphalt ramp with fuel pouring out all over. Ramp guy was PISSED! The fire department showed up. LOTS of paperwork to fill out. Took them months to fix the plane. The plane was fixed and flown home by someone else. They then started to work on it to sell it. They did an oil change and then ran the airplane up outside the hangar door pointing in, which was a BIG no-no. The brakes couldn't hold it as they were minimal at best. Off the plane went into the hangar. The guy running it up, an newly licensed pilot panicked - didn't pull the power off. It hit my bosses big Craftsman toolbox ...... which sent sockets, wrenches and everything else throughout the hangar. Today, almost 45 years later, those hole patches all over the roof and walls are still noticeable where those tools departed mother earth at a very high speed. Airplane was totaled at that point and scrapped. Flying was so much fun back then! ;)

Don BP;)

It’s really good, but if you fly 2024 at all, the native version there has a flight model that feels more alive than Carenado’s 2020 planes that I own. (I haven’t flown the 2020 version of this particular plane, so comparing more against the 182, etc.) Doesn’t appear that buying in one sim gets you the native version of the plane in the other, unless something went screwy because I used those stupid “coins” to buy it.
