Curved Monitor

Hi,
I've seen a few curved monitors advertised and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them and how they work for flight sim, are they worth bothering with?

Regards,
Ian

Ian, I don’t know what a curved monitor costs, but I would instead opt for a Virtual reality headset; a Rift or a Vive. You really step into a new world. I have seen curved monitors (although not in sims), and I would go for VR any time.

I have the Samsung S27E510, a 27 inch curved monitor with possible 1920 X 1080 resolution.

Due to the construction of the stand it wobbles ...... just like the reviews said it would !

I was all tickled pink .... at first, then I swear it is No better than a flat screen.

Save your money and go bigger with higher resolution or go VR .

I give curved monitors this : :angryfire: ..... unless you can get a full surround ...... at least to 180* from seated position --->> LEFT SHOULDER TO RIGHT SHOULDER.

Many thanks for all the reply's everyone. It maybe looks like VR is the way to go and the price is steadily falling so I think I'll save my money for that.

Again, many thanks,

Ian

For graphics work and modeling, flat screen is my preference. If I had the budget for a dedicated flying station, I would love three curved, borderless screens.
I haven't experimented with VR yet, but it is tempting.

For VR -- Now that v4.1 supports mouse cursor, you'll never go back. It's like you're in the real plane....add a moving seat and you've got a veritable sim of epic proportions!

Is this the new way to interface with the cockpit. I tried out a vr set at flightsimcon and couldn't get off the ground because of the wacky controllers on my hands.

I'm using a 34" curved monitor on my sim/gaming system and it's beautiful. The curve is subtle but nice with a monitor this enormous. But the curve kind of disappears and isn't a huge thing.

It's great if you need a big monitor for work too, but if sims are why you're buying, spend the money on VR. It's sooo amazing. Love my Oculus Rift.

I couldn't agree with you more Denny . About a year ago I splurged and bought a LG 34" Curved with a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 . I am running it with a GTX 1080(8gb) which can handle the resolution very well . P3Dv4 is incredible .
