With the Wendell Scott family there! Now how cool is that! :mixed-smiley-010:

Then there was Danica's take: (If she has sour grapes, perhaps she should talk to Johanna Long)

Earlier in her media availability, Patrick was asked about NASCAR's diversity program in light of the celebration of NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee Wendell Scott this weekend at Martinsville.
"I've never benefitted from NASCAR's diversity program," Patrick said. "... Well, clearly, then I wouldn't think there needs to be a diversity program if I'm here and I didn't get in. It wasn't like they asked me to be in it. They didn't give my team or me any money, they didn't say, 'We'd love you,' you know? So I would say that you have to just make it. I'm not saying that being a girl hasn't helped, but I didn't need a program to make it happen."

Oh well, it was still a great tribute to Wendell Scott & his family!

i read that story...what bugs me most is that she seems to think its some sort of popularity show....Ricky needed to run better..to drive fast..then he would have qualified better and made the race...dont go bitchin to nascar that your boyfriend should make the race everytime just because hes mr danica patrick....

and to the diversity program...she was well established in INDY cars when she moved over..had she been an 18 year old on a dirt track somewhere in the world, then maybe a NASCAR team ,Jack Roush was big in development teams when she got her start, would have snapped her up and helped her..but she went open wheel,go-carts and into INDY....the diversity program has allways been a nascar thing..so why would have they had helped her?...they wouldnt and didnt...shes just a selfish and arrogant person..its all about her or no one...

imma make this about me again...this is the very reason i didnt go where id hoped to go when Junie contacted me..i didnt sell myself..its true i turned him down after pressure from my dad,but i should have been stronger in my own mind and tried to sell myself to him better (for a better opertunity in 83,rather than shop boy for a few years to see what happens),or even tried to sell myself to that new guy back then roush..anyway what didnt happen didnt...my point.i shouldnt have been so afraid of my dad and been more confindent in myself.

In this case I agree with Danica, qualifying was a pathetic joke on the teams and spectators. Qualifying is supposed to rank the cars from fastest to slowest. The way they did it sorts them from luckiest to unluckiest position in the pack, skill and car set up have a lot less to do with it. It sucks just like the chase! :angryfire:
