DCS sale - ED or Steam?

With DCS modules back on sale - is there now any significant difference in buying from ED or Steam?

Being a UK resident the ED prices in US$'s will have exchange rate/conversion costs so cost slightly more but there is the complexity of moving Steam licenses to ED...

Thanks

I don't use DCS within Steam, so I do not know with any certainty, but I have some opinions. If you are not going to use any community supported mods and keep a "vanilla" setup, I would bet Steam works absolutely fine. I believe if you run through alll of the modules on the ED site, you will see some that are not compatible with Steam (those modules may be ones you are not interested in). My reason for doing "straight ED DCS" is so that only ED can tell me how to use the software I invested $$$ in and it is unlikely ED would do anything to damage the customer relationship, whereas Steam doesn't quite have that same incentive. My experience with ED (it has been many years...I think since Lock-On in early 2000s) has been quite good (with the RazBam exception). ED has provided continuous product support and improvement over those many years and it looks like things are going to get even better in the near future.

I hope this helps with your decision. If it was mine, I know what I would do.

Thanks, I went with ED, the airmiles thing might go towards the currency conversion costs... but it seems the F-4 which I've just bought doesn't have airmiles...oh well...

I too had LOMAC from the beginning, reinstalling my PC with Windows 2000 Server to be able to run it.
Also did lots of currency account shenanigans to get buy Black Shark in Roubles :)
But no DCS for the last few years.

The most complete, well supported (very good bang for the pound) module is the F/A-18C. The sale price is quite attractive. Also consider Flaming Cliffs....several aircraft for a s,mall amount of dough. But, don't be like me, I own many and fly maybe 2!
