It has happened to all of us at one time or another, and it is a disaster!
I have two 2TB drives in my flight sim computer and the second one I was just using for storage. Then I decided to copy all that stuff I was backing up to another external drive and use the second drive as a bootable second operating system as a back up, just incase it happens to me. I plan to update it once a week.
I used the free version of DiskGenius and it was very easy to do, takes less than 30 minutes.
It is always nice to have a back up.
