'Dubai=Gorgeous'

Drive two miles away and it doesn't look so gorgeous. Dubai is a huge, dusty, very poor city, in an otherwise third-world country. That place in the photo is for the tourists.

Well, that was 1991 anyway. Maybe it's changed since then...
 
That's quite the aquarium - 65,000 fish! And not too many Grandma's getting on that 100 ft waterslide, I bet.:d

That is amazing. Not sure if I would want to sleep in a room dwarfed by a giant saltwater aquarium but at $22000.00 per night, I don't have to ever worry about it. :rolleyes:
 
Yea. I've been over/to the UAE on a number of occasions and never saw anything like that. I did see the palm island and the Burj Al Arab Hotel, which look incredible from the air. It's hot, dusty, windy and humid. It stunk too, if I remember correctly. It's amazing what money will do...
 
The man behind Atalantis is a 'Seth Efrikan' property developer.

According to the report covering the opening a top of the line suite costs A$35,000 - A$50,000 per night, depending on the source quoted.
As for the asthetics,'ugly as a hat full of arseholes' in the Aussie vernacular.
With luck, it might even emulate it's namesake.
I don't much like Dubai, great place for 'Desert Warefare' training but not much else.

PS: The opening ceremony budget would have been enough to bail out Eclipse Aircraft ........!!!!
