Dumb Question #42

Ok, so installed Ultimate Terrain and Ground Environment Pro.
LOVE IT!!!!!
Now, here's the dumb part...
Is terrain different than mesh?
If so, where can I get a great mesh set for the U.S.?
Freeware or Pay.

Hi,

Terrain is the same as mesh, but don't be fooled into thinking that Ultimate Terrain has that just because terrain is in the title! UT is roads, rivers, lakes placement and such.

FS Genesis has good payware mesh and offered free mesh, located in major FS libraries.

Search the "usual suspects" for the names Raimondo Taburet and Justin Tyme. Mesh files for FS2002 work perfectly in FS9 as well. I also install mine differently from what most authors tell you:

Make a new folder inside Addon Scenery with a name that makes sense, like Alaska Mesh. Inside that, make a folder called scenery. Put the mesh bgl's into the scenery subfolder. Then go into the Scenery Library in FS and activate the Alaska Mesh folder just like you would any other addon. This allows you to deactivate the mesh any time you want without having to first remember the filenames and then go searching for them. You can also adjust them in the priority list if there's any conflicts.
