'Earnhardt Jr. On The Daytona 500 Pole..'

Chevys look predominate, especially the RHR and RCR teams. I guess NASCAR is happy.

Missed quals, takes too long at Daytona. We had a pretty day, better to be out. Saw the Shootout last night at Kickback Jack's, a local sports bar and eatery, on the huge wide-screen. Hated the finish, I wish Denny would have put a fender into KB #22, he had a line and KB #22 cut him off and forced him under the yellow line or cause a wreck. KB#22, this chikin's for you!

Hey All,

Aw Jr just wanted to get interviewed by Rachel! :jump:

The interview

Of more interest is the fact that NASCAR is looking at rule changes to slow the cars down again. Logano doin 203mph in practice and shootout speeds at 206mph.

http://www.nascar.com/news/110213/daytona-speeds-changes/index.html

As for no Toys in the top 20 it don't matter where you start at Talledega or Daytona. You'll notice how fast Logano was in practice and the fact that Hamlin tried to cheat to win the shootout by passin below the yellow line at the end. Got black flagged for it and ended up 12th. If it had been the 500 I'm bettin he would have driven right through Newman's car wrecking him in an effort to win. Rest assured the Toyota's are fast. Watch for the pushin car to flip the car in front in an effort to slingshot past in the dash to the finish only now at over 200 mph.

Dam it's good to see real racin again...

A PS Edit - I'll really be pullin hard for Jr to win on Sunday. We all know what happened 10 years ago this year.

I just noticed....
No Sam Hornish Jr. in the field......

I think that besides Montoya, I'll be a Dodge fan this year & root for Kurt Busch & Robby Gordon...:bump:

Hey All,

I either didn't notice this or it just came up - NASCAR issued a bulletin this morning requiring changes to the cars cooling systems before the race next sunday - effectively before Wednesday - so they can't push as long before they overheat - thus in theory slowin them down. 200mph is the key number - insurance and liability you know - big corporations decide how things are done now days you know.

Ho-Hum........

I agree Womby, it's looks like racing in NASCAR, at the least on the super speedways, will be dancing two by two. No more pack racing, nut a strand of two cars hooked up nose-to-tail. At least there is still the chance of the big one, but as far as "racing" is concerned, the hell with the fans.

Oh yeah Ed, that's just what NASCAR needs, another bit of sex in the fold. Some things are better off left for men being men. I wonder when TV will have the first sexism remark case. Oh, yeah and besides dumning down the speed, NASCAR has now lowered the age limit to its sub-series racing to 15. I guess NASCAR figures the world wants to see kids race or it's just another ploy to bring in more money through rich parents wanting to get their kids involved in racing safe generic race cars. Folks, NASCAR is jerking us off and we're letting them!

Robby Gordon, don't make me laugh! :icon_lol:

There are jerks all over NASCAR, but he is King Jerk!

I once thought he showed promise Caz, back in the real open wheel racing days when he drove for Derek Walker, mid '90s.
But even the canny Walker couldn't control Robby, I've never forgotten or forgiven him driving into Michael Andretti on the cooling down lap at Cleveland not once but twice, claiming payback for Michael allegedly cutting his tyres during the race.
My opinion of him remains today as it did that weekend ............ Muppet!!

and YES F1 has and admits to team orders and has for years so that will be my starting point...to start with its odd montoya can go to F1 and kick theyre asses (out perform and out drive them) and come to nascar and cant control a car for his first few years..proves the men and women who drive the BIG cars are just BETTER!!!!!

I don't hate NASCAR, I just don't like it. :)

And even if I did like it, there's no way for me to watch it.

I'm not a fan of Formula 1, and as for NASCAR, there is too much (we get it on HD1) of it to waste my limited time on watching the same old show every weekend.
I was a keen follower of NASCAR up until 'Ironhead' died and the 'racing' became the same old same old.

"The men and women who drive the BIG cars are just BETTER"
Yes, Dave, at driving big old dinosaurs (pushrod, single carb engines with beam axle rear ends) in a DOMESTIC oval track series.

Different strokes for different folks, personally I'll take the REAL racers on two wheels over the lot, including the our own domestic V8 Supercars.

I enjoy NASCAR racing, but not on the super speedways. Put them on the shorter tracks, nothing longer than 1.5 miles, and let 'em go at it. Super speedway racing is all about packing in the greatest number of fans and infield parking and entertainment. The short tracks are where NASCAR differentiates itself. Mind you, that's just my opinion and we know all about opinions.

I must admit to making a point of watching the few road race rounds, as the really good drivers stand out, even some of the better roundy-roundy racers do step up to the mark!
