And let's not forget Mercedes whom have won the manufacturers cup.
Congrat's Lewis on your 3rd championship!

A bit of "silly season" here....with Max Verstappen looking rather racy and Haas F1 still looking for a second driver, I wonder if Max (or Rossi) is in the equation...? Nico in there too or no?

Great to see live, 1st one for me and not a drop of rain! Having gone to both MotoGP and now F1 this year, the F1 crowd (even with the conditions) seemed triple the size.

Great race, lots of action, lots of passing, lot of planning. I'm beginning to like F1 better than nascar. No matter what anyone says, that last wreck was on purpose and unforgivable.

cof has to be one of the best circuits in the world. The drivers like it, spectators like it, and the whole f1 circuit likes Texas.

i hate to admit this, but i too enjoyed what i saw of the race, was very good, even my dad was enjoying it......my fav series to watch lately is the DTM series...good action, cool cars ect...just like the aussie racing, not sure of the name of that series, but when i can catch it on MAVTV i watch.

i cant watch more than a few minutes of nascar any more, atleast road racing keeps your attention longer, because it seems to have action all around.

Great race indeed, edge of my seat for two hours! :encouragement:

P, Haas will announce their second driver in Mexico this week, so I guess congratulations to Esteban Gutierrez on his new job..

As for Max, I hope RBR and STR will find an engine for next year.... Either way, Max is on everyone's radar by now and I am certain he will be the first Dutch F1 race winner, maybe even champion!

Hey All,

So Nico drives a perfect race except for one moment. Lets the Mercedes number 1 driver by him then blocks Vettel perfectly. Admittedly Vettel doesn't have the engine mercedes does and the track was drying. Is it fundamentally fair that the cars are not equal? Remember IMO it should totally be about the driver not the car. Coincidence that mercedes number 1 driver goes by mercedes number 2 driver? Why does Vettel have clauses in his contract about team orders (see Ps past posts)? To obey or not to obey that is the question. I believe Mercedes is just as german as volkswagon. Hmmm... There is no way I buy all this coincidence.

-Ed-

PS there was some good racing in this race but... Attack away.

Nico's demeanor post race was not very sporting. After all, he's the one who made the mistake. Throwing your hat at Hamilton and turning your back on his celebration was not cool. The look on his face told the story.

Nico's a damn fine driver but if he wants to be number one, go to Lotus.

Ed,

I'm afraid cheating isn't just for the Germans. And personally I think its a bit weird to connect an economic offense of one car manufacturer with things which happen with a totally different manufacturer on a race track.

Hey All,

Thinking it through further I went and looked at the race results for 2015 so far. LH has won 11 of 16 races NR a couple more and Vettel 3 races. So Mercedes has won over 75% of the races so far this year. Does this speak to fundamental equality between cars? One team or another is always going to have an edge but is it good for the sport that the edge is this lopsided? I watch the Mercedes put power to the ground out of corners superior to any other car on the track and simply run away. I think there are opportunities for great historic driver battles even today. Who is the better driver Vettel or Hamilton? We'll never know because one has to try to win in a go cart and the other in an F1 car. To be honest my money would be on Vettel as he does more with less but we'll never know. I like to see drivers win championships in hard fought battles not cakewalks. I was not happy with Vettels 11 and 13 win seasons - winning the Championship winning only 5 races as he did twice was much more interesting. LH won with 5 wins in 08. They are not equal championships. Clearly NR is not as good a driver as LH or his car is the number 2 car - equally prepared? Or do more resources go into the number 1 car? You tell me. Maybe next year we will have better sounding F1 cars (check P's past links) since sound was identified as a critical component to work on for next year. Whoo Hoo!!

Formula 1 has always been more a manufacturer championship than a driver championship. If you want equality on cars, watch GP2, Formula Renault or any other single-type chamionship...

What makes it additionally tough for Nico this year is that Vettel is ahead of him in the driver's championship - thus being beat by 2 drivers now....

Same old same old.
I'm not and never will be a Hamilton fan but he is one of the greater drivers of the past decade, and that is as much praise as I'll give him.
A big Hats Off to the spectators, despite everything the elements threw at you the crowd participation was epic!

Tinfoil hat time for Easy Ed again.
Even as far back as my first FF1600 season there has never been an 'equal' racing series, money rules.
FYI, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen are entirely separate corporations.
Interestingly, the VW diesel beat-up seems to have moved off the hysterical 'Media' stage at the moment, but it will preclude Audi or VW from entering Formula 1 for quite some time.

I will confess to be rather pissed off with 'Motorsport' in general right now, as we have just returned from Sepang and the Malaysian round of the MotoGP very disappointed.
At least it reminded me why I hated being posted to Malaysia, Sepang was really hot and sticky, while Kuala Lumpur is overpopulated and polluted.

I'll get orf me soapbox now!
:a1451:

HAAS has confirmed Esteban Gutierrez will be joining alongside Romain Grosjean for 2016.
Nico had a right to be annoyed, Hamilton did push him wide, just like Rossi did to Marquez at Sepang.

"Nico's a damn fine driver but if he wants to be number one, go to Lotus."
Assuming there will be a 'Lotus' team next year.

Must be time for my medication ................ :biggrin-new:

KTM testing their 2016 MotoGP bike with an interesting 'phantom' sponsor scheme.

Hypothetical scenario:
*KTM are an Austrian company.
*The RC16 is powered by a 1000cc V4
*Add two more cylinders and they would have a 1500cc V6.
*RBR are an Austrian business with huge financial reserves.
*KTM have the engineering expertise and reputation for getting 'things' done.
*RBR would really like to have their very own power supply.
*F1 Rule changes are supposed to change for 2017.
*Add RBR funding to a KTM prestige project .....................:triumphant:
Hypothetical but not impossible IMNSHO.
