Really the most boring event of the year so far.
Delighted to see Charles finally winning his home 'race', and as an Aussie so happy for Oscar.
K-Mag, Checo and the Hulk? No penalties?
But good to see all three drivers walk away from the Lap 1 chaos.
However, Imola and Monaco being labelled as too narrow and impossible to pass on has raised several discussions re 'upgrading' or even 'removing' these venues from the calendar.
Not a solution!!!!!!!
The cars are just too big and fat.
I enjoy F2 and F3, the juniors do get a bit feisty, but the cars look reasonable and can get very racy.
Using F2 as a template for a suitable starting point, reducing dimension and weight, perhaps utliising turbo power configured V8/V6/V10
engines of 1:5 Litres {or some permutations up to 2:0 Litres???} running on renewable or synthetic fuels, no moveable aero or DRS, should result in a
700+HP 600/700KG (or thereabouts) proper F1 cars.
Of course, each team designs and constructs its own cars, engine and drivetrain choice can be inhouse design or customer sourced.
We were impressed by the F2 cars at Albert Park, much faster than expected and agile, while the exhaust note was just musical. (and loud)
The FIM has realised the need to remove or downsize the aero, adjustable ride height, holeshot and most of the trick Gubbins infesting the MotoGP bikes, even downsizing engine capacity from 1000cc to 850cc.
Simple reason: the bikes have outgrown many of the circuits and safety for the riders and spectators is paramount.
The big bikes are turning out some 300+HP and last weekend in Spain they were hitting 330+K down the front straight.
Nice to see a governing body doing some positive work.
