Good news on the TBD recovery!

It'll be a while. I saw a video a few days ago that indicates the process to recover and preserve such an aircraft that has been submerged this long is long and complicated. We're talking years, before it will be displayed. A lot of years. Watch this video from Ryan at Battleship New Jersey.

Great video Worthless, thanks for the HU on it. I've followed the CSS Hunley since it was found and am aware of the time span for such a project. At 79 I probably won't get to see it but at least I know they are trying.

Thanks to american enthousiasts, private or state institutions, a lot of aircraft history has been conserved. Some on static and some are even flying.
I put down my hat to all those men and women who spend a lot of time and money to preserve aeronautic history.
Thank you to them.

Best regards

Michael

It's quite fascinating that some plane/ship wrecks are in that good of a shape even after all those years. I've sometimes wondered, for some planes like the Devastator, if a modern flyable reproduction could be possible, like some Fw-190 in the early 2000s. A replica is nice but I can't help but imagine a modern reproduction WW2 plane, with modern techniques/materials/etc being a good thing too, but I guess it's not that worth it, money/time wise? Anyway, I hope they will be able to raise and save this plane, it would be nice.
