Guns and bullets

I don't know.
Each time I fly CFS3 or ETO, MAW, PTO etc, etc, etc, I'm always wondering about my guns efficacy.
Of course I'm no hitman but anyway I manage to put 20% of my bullets on the target. Nevertheless many e/a simply won't be shot. For a Fw190 it's hopeless if I don't have cannons.
When I read a WW2 pilot report I get the opposite impression. Same when watching Dogfights at History Channel: it seems that the efficacy of a .303 or .50 cal was much greater.
Would it be feasible to change it in ETO (et al) and how?

Thanks

N.

I find a middle setting of 'strong' is a must ta keep up w/ AI!
...I guess someday I may not need the 'unlimited ammo' setting!
...plus ya know matey, if yer hittin' 20% that makes you an official "Dead-eye Dick"

When I hear 'Bud" Anderson say "a short burst" I know it was 4 50 calibre Brownings at fairly close range...
making his mk III a real nasty customer, but its gotta be a neat trick to simulate that!

I run with limited Ammo and "Strongest" effectiveness.

Erich Hartmann's technique was to get real close, stupid close, 20 meters. I understand most of the damage his aircraft received was from debris from his kills.

I waste most of my ammo on deflection shooting, but I do tend to get caught up in a turn fight way too much. Usually I manage to wound my enemies and come in real close to finish them. I can get maybe 2-4 per sortie this way, though I believe the most I had in one go was 9... P-47's have big magazines.

"After nearly 11 Years of CFS, still trying to make a Thunderbolt turn fight."
you may still realize a bit of LIMITED success if you try it w/ a 'C' type.:d

I'll learn someday. Or at least figure out how to not catch that "One Stray Bullet" that almost inevitably sheers the wing off my Spitfire IXe.

The P-39F and -N in ETO 1.2 is my new fave though, that 37mm punches big 'ol holes in stuff. Just that once you burn through the 37 and .50 cal, you've still got 4 .30's but all they are good for is making the hun madder.
