Honda vetoes Alonso/Andretti Indy 500 deal

H
owever, his return last year was with a Chevy-powered McLaren entry due to the breakdown of the McLaren-Honda partnership in Formula 1, with Alonso having been very vocal about the Japanese manufacturer’s deficiencies regarding its power unit.

Apparently him working for Toyota in the WEC and Dakar was a bigger deal breaker for Honda than his GP2 engine comments..

Not very clever of Honda considering the big picture.
Alonso could (could) be a serious contender, I'd be interested to know if the veto is from Japan or Honda US.
Petty politics at play.
:banghead:

You can't really say Fernando invested in keeping a good relation with Honda :biggrin-new:.

Cheers,
Huub
