Honduras to Nicaragua Flight

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Today I continued onto the next leg of my journey with N6787J, which started in Key West and has gone to Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and now today Nicaragua. This trip was from the Toncontín Intl. Airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras where I had last left off, to the volcanic island of Ometepe, near the city of Managua, Nicaragua, located within Lake Nicaragua. Once again I flew in live time & weather. I saw plenty of rain showers along the way, but managed to skirt between them the whole way.

Previous legs of this journey can be found here:

Toncontín International is one of the hand-crafted airports, and is located in an area which is high above sea level and surrounded by mountains (a bit of a challenge for the Bonanza).

There is a whole chain of dormant and active volcanoes strung out in a long line near Managua.

Here is the volcano named Momotombo.

And the nearby volcanic island of Momotombito.

Very near Managua is the large volcanic crater that forms Apoyeque Lagoon and the nearby Xiloa Lagoon can also bee seen.

Overflying the Managua/Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport.

The massive volcanic crater of Apoyo Lagoon.

The Mombacho volcano.

Passing the volcanic island of Zapatera, located in Lake Nicaragua, and heading toward the larger volcanic island of Ometepe.

The volcano named Concepcion, on the island of Ometepe, and the Maderas volcano in the background.

Unfortunately the last set of screenshots I took landing at and parking at the Ometepe Airport didn't save, but here is the last screenshot that saved before landing.
