Hospitals Project

Working on ADE files (P3d4) for hospitals. Currently just in Arizona. Sadly ADE is sorely lacking in scenery object hospitals (has two that I've found). Hope to find more at some point. Here's Flagstaff Medical Center, Flagstaff AZ. Way bigger than the real hospital, but has the one elevated pad, so it's the best I can do with what I have. Cera Bell 412EP (Luv this chopper) and a paint I found in my new favorite forum SOH.

I use the two in the standard library over and over. I know I've seen some medical centers in other add-on libraries.
I'll do some looking and see if I can find them.

I have an old set of sceneries from HoverControl (remember them?!) that I fly from time to time. They consist of a number of hospital pads in the Columbia River area of Washington State and also have some Coastguard Cutters offshore. I made a flight plan that visits them all and it is a lot of fun to fly. I used to fly it in FSX but I haven't tried it in P3D....yet!

Is this something you might upload to SOH resources?
It's be great if we became the go to location for a community collection of HoverControl's past free offerings.

I just found my DL package and the scenery was made by Jordan Moore and Hover Control but it does not specify if it can be uploaded to any other sites. I searched the zip file name too in case it was uploaded to other sites but I got zero results.

This is from the enclosed 'Read Me':

GENERAL INFO
=====================

Portland Facilities 1.0 By Jordan Moore and Hovercontrol

For Microsoft Flight Simulator X (With Acceleration Expansion Pack)

This scenery adds 8 Hospitals, 4 operating facilities, and 9 Coast Guard cutters in the Portland, Oregon region of the United States. Portland Intl airport code is KPDX. This area is popular within Flight Simulator (and the real world) because of its wide variety of terrain, river valleys, and high mountain peaks. It is within reasonable flying distance to Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, and Mt. Rainier. Not to mention the Columbia River Gorge, and the Pacific Ocean. It is also near one of the long time homes of Hovercontrol Helicopters in Hood River, Oregon (airport: 4S2). Each of the hospitals and coast guard cutters has an elevated helipad, and the 4 operating bases have a variety of challenging helipads. 2 of the operating bases have access to the water for amphibious float planes. The scenery is textured for both day and night operations, including lights, etc.

INSTALLING SCENERY
======================

For basic information on how to install flight simulator scenery, please visit this Hovercontrol article:

Dead link removed.

(though it was written for FS9/FS2004, the instructions are nearly identical for FSX).

If you are using ORBX products, it is important that this scenery be loaded HIGHER in your scenery list menu, so that the ORBX products will not exclude the various scenery items used at each location. If you visit one of the operating bases and see taxiways and dirt but you see NO helipads, hangars, vehicles, or other structures, chances are that you have loaded this scenery as a lower priority than something like ORBX, and it is excluding the scenery objects from your view.

If you have questions, it is recommended that you jump on Hovercontrol teamspeak, and ask some of the folks with more experience.

REMOVING HI-VIS MARKERS
======================
The hospitals and Coast Guard cutters include rotating markers to help visualize their location when you are within a few miles of them. For those that would rather not have the markers, simply remove any file with "MARKERS" in the name from the Portland Facility scenery folder. These files contain the markers only.

I agree it would be nice to host all of HoverControl's former files but without express permission from Jordan and/or HC I don't feel comfortable uploading anything here due to copyright issues.

I'm sure Jordan's work is way better than mine. Maybe we can find a way to contact him.

I concentrate on putting the Helipad where it should be (Lat/Long). Which I believe is the coordinates in the GPS database fix. These are a relatively new thing, I think. I flew fixed wing aeromed, so I'm just not sure. I get the fix/Identifier from flightaware, then build some kind of Hospital around it. It's not very pretty, but it's functional. I'm no scenery designer for sure.

That's what I like about helo scenery, as long as you have a pad finding it is the fun part.
